Astrid has a practice incorporating criminal law, public and government law, including regulatory and enforcement matters. Astrid has particular interest in matters involving the intersection of criminal and civil law.

Astrid appears in all Courts and tribunals led and unled.

Astrid undertakes appearances (trials, pleas, committals and applications) in the Supreme, County and Magistrates' Courts, and advisory work in civil and criminal matters covering areas of:

• mental impairment (including special hearings and review proceedings)
• public interest immunity and other privileges (including subpoena arguments)
• disability law
• regulatory matters
• terrorism and national security
• fraud offences
• sexual offences, including Commonwealth Criminal Code offences
• internet offences, including Commonwealth Criminal Code offences
• drug offences
• animal cruelty offences
• customs (including tarriffs), biosecurity and quarantine offences
• Family Violence and Personal Safety intervention order applications
• Royal Commissions and other commissions of inquiry
• Coroner's Court
• Astrid is also available to accept interstate briefs.

In addition to Court based briefs, Astrid appears and advises in Royal Commissions and other inquiries. Astrid acted for the State of Victoria in the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, and a person of interest in the Royal Commission into Trde Union Governance and Corruption.

Astrid is a Victoria Legal Aid Criminal Trial Preferred Barrister, and holds an Indictable Crime Certificate (ICC).
