Experience

Luisa practices in commercial and public law.

Luisa has particular experience in contractual disputes, misleading and deceptive conduct, trademark and passing off, copyright infringement, and media and defamation law. She also has experience in royal commissions and inquiries.

Luisa also practices in family law and is experienced in representing clients in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Divisions 1 and 2). She is regularly briefed to advise and appear (led and unled) in complex property disputes and trust matters, including on behalf of third parties.

A sample of Luisa’s recent (non-family law) experience includes:

Yoorrook Justice Commission (2023) – briefed on behalf of the Victorian State Government to provide confidential advice – led by Emrys Nekvapil SC.

Yoorrook Justice Commission (2023 – ongoing) – briefed on behalf of the Victorian State Government – led by Richard Knowles KC, Georgina Coghlan KC and Dan Star KC, with Helen Tiplady, Sarah Keating and Gemma Cafarella.

Confidential advice (2023) -- confidential advice to a Victorian State Government department on proposed changes to governing legislation, led by Philip Solomon KC.

Confidential advice (2023) - advice to the Department of Education regarding issues related to the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth), data retention, and the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

Before coming to the Bar, Luisa was an Associate to the Honourable Justice Digby in the Supreme Court of Victoria, and to the Honourable Justices Macmillan and McEvoy in the Family Court of Australia. Prior to this, Luisa was a solicitor at Media Arts Lawyers.

Luisa holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Melbourne, and a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Business (MediaComms) (Hons) from Monash University.
